Out of necessity I needed to find another way to feed myself. Fortunately, for me, I had a camera and my riding buddies didn't mind parting with some of their winnings to buy my photos of themselves. It was enough money to fill my belly, and sprout a career.
It wasn't long before my tenacity was paying off each week. I was slowly building my checking account, and reputation as a rodeo photographer. I'll be forever grateful for the support from my family holding me up during those early years of getting things off the ground.
It is really hard to have that breakthrough moment in a photography career, as any photographer can attest to. I think luck has to come find you, but you must also have the skills to back it up. I have been with the PBR since 1995, criss crossing North America exponentially with the tour, and to this day it remains a passion of mine. As the PBR grew, so did my visions. I revel in coming up with new exciting ways for people to enjoy and interact with photos.
I also appreciate working with all of our many clients and fans who have come along throughout the years. This fact was the driving force behind creating Bull Stock Media. It has become a platform for distributing images to clients and a connection to fans who love the sport, love photography, or both.
When not staring at a computer screen or pushing the button, I can be found "being one with nature." I have always gained solitude by standing in a river and waving a stick - fly fishing. And every year I look forward to the fall season of bow hunting when I can chase the mountain ghosts.
