Loading... Please wait...Like most photographers, I picked up a camera at an early age. I've been shooting sports since the late eighties. During that time, I've been lucky enough to shoot a diversity of Pro-level sports. That experience brought me in touch with my business partner, Andy Watson. In 2003, he brought me over to shoot some PBR events. Well, that has worked out pretty well since I've been shooting PBR ever since.
Creating images of the PBR riders, bulls, and events has been rewarding over the years, but nothing compares to the feedback we now get with the launching of our Twitter and Facebook pages. These tools have allowed us to connect with the fans of the PBR and that, in turn, has allowed us to capture images based on the requests made by those fans.
Typically, my shooting position has me on the back of the chutes - sandwiched in between the bulls and the riders that are getting ready. When the chute flies open, it's an explosion of action that not only yields stunning images, but quite a few "souvenirs" that are destined for the washer when I get home. It's a dirty job (hello, Mike Rowe), but I'm grateful I get to do it.
My partners find a host of entertainment teasing me about my "nerd-ness". Truth is, they'd spend quite a bit of time looking stuff up in books if they didn't have me readied in their speed dials. I handle the tech stuff in the office and on location, but I know when to call in a professional for the heavy lifting. That is when I grab my camera and get back to what I do best - take pictures.
When not on the road, I'm at home in Orange County, CA with my wife and three boys. You'd likely find us hanging out on a soccer field somewhere.
